Satan’s Floods of Doubt
According the 12th chapter of the Book of Revelation, the Dragon (Satan) is presented as casting out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman (God’s faithful Jews). His purpose was “that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood” (12:15). We then read of how the earth “swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth” (12:16). This “flood” appears to be the lies that Satan spreads in order to deceive that so many are sadly and gullibly accepting. The Bible is under serious attack, and Satan is indeed spewing forth his “flood” in order that the world might doubt the very foundation of our heavenly hope. One headline in last week’s “Roanoke Times” reads “Best-selling books raise questions about New Testament.” The related article deals with the Judas Gospel, which is just another of the gnostic writings written in the 2nd century by those who rejected Christ. This is just another attempt to add to books and movies such as “The Davinci Code” and “The Mark of the Beast” which are attempts to cause people to question the Bible’s accuracy.
Brethren, not only is the world swallowing up the devil’s deceptions, but many in the Lord’s church are as well. John continues, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed” (Rev. 12:17). Whether we realize it or not, brethren, many congregations throughout our brotherhood are being taken over. They are being taken over by those who want to change them into the Community Church. Those that have been taken over say they never saw it coming. Those that are about changing the church work in secrecy seeking to infiltrate the church from within, but their process is well known. Brethren, if we will just pay attention to the signs and guard against the “flood,” we can protect the precious bride of Christ.
What is the first step of those seeking to change the church? It is the claim that we need a new version of the Bible. It is to cast doubt upon the tried and true. It is alleged that the KJV is too difficult to understand. It is further alleged that the Greek can be translated many different ways and that most any translation is acceptable. What is the result of this confusion? Just more doubt upon God’s Holy divine word and eventually the result will be “Well you have your interpretation and I’ll have mine.” We can be assured we have the word of God today. The psalmist stated, “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times” (Psa. 12:6).
