Paul’s Recipe for Reducing Stress pt 2 – Kindness
Philippians 4:5 – Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. (KJV)
The Lord is coming soon, our life in this place is short even if he doesn’t come before we die, so we really have no reason to live any other way than to be patient, kind and gentle of spirit.
We know from 1 Corinthians 13 that Love suffers long and is kind, Doth not behave herself unseemly, seeketh not her own. The word moderation is how the King James translators summed up the meaning behind this verse that captures the same ideas. Being kind and gentle in all situations is an outstanding way to teach our worldly friends what being a Christian is all about.
Paul reiterated this to the Romans in Romans 13:10-11 and James 5:7-9 reinforces this notion saying …Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh … or strengthen your heart. We are to relax and be kind, for we are reassured over and over again that Christ is coming soon and this notion is coupled with kindness and love over and over again in Scripture.
