“Recipe” For Salvation

In an effort to save money and be healthier, my wife Ruth and I have begun planning out meals that we can eat at home rather than eating out.  Part of this process has involved us finding recipes that are healthy, inexpensive, and delicious.  Here is one of our recent favorites quickie-fruit-salad.  As a result, we have been able to locate many wonderful recipes that we have decided to make more than once as well as share with our friends and family.

On a much higher plane, God has a “recipe,” if you will, for us to be saved and spend all of eternity with Him.  Just as we must follow a recipe to the letter in order for the dish to turn out as we would like, we must follow God’s instructions for salvation to the mark.  He has told us that we must hear the Word (Romans 10:17), believe it (Acts 8:37), repent of our sins (Luke 13:3), confess that Jesus is the Son of God (Romans 10:9), and be baptized (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16).  Once we are baptized, we must walk faithfully unto death, and God will give us a crown of life (Revelation 2:10).

Just as we would want to share a delicious recipe with our friends and family, would we not also want to share God’s “recipe” for salvation?  Let us all strive to follow God’s glorious instructions for salvation so that we might share an eternity in Heaven with Him. What could be better for our spiritual health?
