The Greatest Birthday of All

My daughter Kayla’s birthday is just one week away, and she is really looking forward to being officially nine years old. Birthdays can bring about such great joy, and we can enjoy celebrating the passing of another year in a person’s life. However, a greater type of birthday exists – one that all of us should choose to have and take part.

The most wonderful birthday of all that an individual can celebrate is that of his new birth in Christ which takes place at one’s baptism. In John 3:5, Jesus, in answer to Nicodemus’ question, stated, ” Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” In 1 Peter 1:23, Peter refers to those who follow Christ as being “born again.” Hence, we are born again when we are baptized into Christ. We put to death the old man and arise a new creature to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

In conclusion, we should all strive to obey God and have that wonderful birthday that will lead us to heaven. May we all be able to celebrate the blessed day that we began our walk with God.
