As I was contemplating my responsibility to vote today, I got to thinking about how not only is participating in our government a civil responsibility we have, but it is ordained by God for us to be subject to our government. (Romans 13:1-7) God blesses a well run government and reminds us to pray for it. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Many are upset or dissatisfied when we mix our religious activity with our civil matters, but upon closer examination, we see that we can use what we believe is right in the sight of God to help make our decisions regarding the proper choice of candidate. Not only is this another aspect of our being the “salt of the earth”, but it is pleasing to God for us to take a stand on His laws. (1 Peter 2:15-16)
