Nature is filled with many wonderful examples of migration. We can understand that God has designed these creatures with migration as an integral part of their survival. Instances of species migration occur in every level of fauna – from microorganisms in freshwater lakes that migrate within temperature levels of the water column, to the famous pathways of Pacific salmon and Gray whales (traveling an awesome 12,500 miles annually), to the observation every autumn of the birds heading south. What does the apostle Peter mean when he tells those on the day of Pentecost that had gladly received his word that they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit? Were they being told that they were going to have a non-miraculous, literal indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Is it a reference to the temporary, miraculous spiritual gifts which were received in the 1st century church? Or was it to be understood as a statement of salvation much like Paul speaking of the gift of God being “eternal life” – Romans 6:23?

Did the election not go your way?
Never fear because God did a wonderful thing for us. He gave us the tool of prayer to help manage our government! We are commanded to obey the laws and pray for the government. (Romans 13:1-7) Even though we may have an administration that doesn’t share the same urgency to legislate laws from a moral standpoint, we are blessed with a system of government that will allow those laws to be passed via other avenues. Many people in our world today strive to attain wealth. They want to have the most spacious home, the fanciest car, the finest clothes, and the best of material things in life. While being wealthy is not a sin, what does the Bible say about riches and the constant desire to attain them?
