We are What We Speak
Our youngest son, Elisha, who will be 2 at the end of January, is beginning to repeat every word that he hears. When he hears us say “Amen” at the end of a prayer, he repeats “Amen.” When he hears one of us calling for another member of the family, he calls out “Kaywa” (for his sister Kayla), “Bubba” (for his brother Channing), or “Honey” (for me). It is amazing how this little boy will imitate whatever he hears and makes those of us around him very conscious of the language that we use.
