A letter to Charles Darwin…

Dear Mr. Darwin,

This week many millions of people in countries all over the world are celebrating your birthday.  This year is an especially big one for you – 200 years makes you older than many of the nations that have organized “Darwin Days” in your honor.  As the world gets a fresh draught of your legacy, my own thoughts have turned to what I would have said to you,  had we lived on God’s earth during the same time.

Does All Human Life Have Value?

        Today would have been Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday if he were still alive. Many of us are aware of him as the author of the book Origin of Species. However, how many of us are familiar with Sir Francis Galton (seen in the picture to the right), the father of the ideology known as eugenics? He was Darwin’s cousin who formulated this idea from Darwin’s influence. Whereas Darwin believed in the survival of the fittest in the natural realm, Galton attempted to apply this in an artificial sense in speeding up the process by only allowing the
