Mark wrote his gospel to the Gentile reader emphasizing the things Jesus did rather than what he said. There is urgency about Mark’s writing based on his use of the words straightway, forthwith and other “fast” words throughout the text.
v2-3. Mark opens by quoting Malachi 3:1 Isaiah 40:3
v1-8. The teachings of John the Baptist Luke 3:1-20
v9-11. Jesus is baptized Matthew 3:3-17
v12-13. Jesus forty days of temptation Matthew 4:1-10
v14-15. Jesus ministry begins.
v16-20. Peter, Andrew, James and John are called. “I will make you fishers of men.” Three of the men believed on Him a year earlier John 1:35-42
v21-28. Jesus casts the demons from the unclean man. The demons recognize him right away. Luke 4:31-37
v29-31. Jesus heals Peter’s mother-in-law. Matthew 8:14-15 Luke :38-39
v32-34. Jesus heals many Matthew 8:16-17 Luke 4:40-41
v35-37. Jesus prays Luke 4:42-43
v38-39. Jesus travels about Galilee
v40-45. Jesus cleansed a leper. The leper doesn’t keep it quiet as Jesus asked him to. Matthew 8:2-4 Luke 5:12-16
