James 4 – Worldly Mindedness
Today’s Reading: James 4

Selfishness will cause problems among our brothers and with God, especially when it takes the form of praying for things for the wrong reason. Jesus taught that we cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24) and James picks up on that lesson here. We need to keep God in the front of our mind to help keep our priorities in check.
The tongue’s tendency to cause us problems is examined here again in the form of judging our brother.
Instead of leading our life the way we want to lead it, we are to first listen to God and follow the plan he has for us. Imagine the entire universe lying at the feet of God, yet he cares enough for each one of us to has a plan and a guide for us.
