Women had little status in the first century but just the same they were given the responsibility to save their husbands soul and to do it through their submissiveness. As opposed to earthly, physical beauty, beauty on the inside matters. Husbands need to love and server their wives just like Christ loves and serves His bride.

Men are to likewise treat the gentler sex with great respect as nothing will cause prayers to go unheard faster than a marriage that isn’t working.

Suffering is addressed again in the context of doing good in response. Psalm 34:12-16 and Isaiah 8:12-13 are quoted to show that blessings come from doing good in response to evil against us.

We are to be ready to discuss the Word anytime some needs us to answer a question.

v1-6 Women serve your husbands

v7-8 Husbands serve your wives

v9-22 Suffering in spite of doing right.
