The Greeks highly regarded the oratory. They often taught their empty philosophy in an eloquent, showy speech. Paul reasoned that he did not need to show off in this way. The wisdom of God was far more wonderful than anything the Greeks taught. The glory of the Christian faith is contained in the Gospel itself, no in a showy presentation.
