Material Covered in Bible Study last week….

Jesus last few days begins

  • More space is devoted to these days in the Gospels than any other event.
  • The events and circumstances are the most important in human history
    • The battle for human redemption was won
    • The seed of woman bruised the head of the serpent
    • Everlasting righteousness became available
    • Satan brought everything he had to bare to prevent these events.
  • Consider that a single word could have stopped it, yet He went through it for sinful men.

Class Notes for Mark 13 (Pt 2): 5/26/10

  • Signs of the destruction of the temple v14-23
    • v14 Double application to the destruction of Jerusalem and of Christ’s return
    • “Let him that read understand” Daniel 9:23-27 Chirst’s words, not Mark’s

    • It is not apocalyptic due to the lack of discussion of Satan, evil forces or final judgment
    • Mark’s readers were on the brink of persecution and should offer hope
  • Jesus’ prophecy of the temple v1-2
    • The three parables were just told to the disciples and were still on their mind.
    • The parables could only point to Jerusalem
    • The temple had nearly 50 years labor in it
