It is amazing sometimes how something small can bring to mind a monumental event. As Ruth and I were working in the backyard today, Ruth pricked her finger on some thorns that I had cut off some of the brush in our yard. She was wearing gloves, but even through the gloves, she could feel the painful pricks that the thorns inflicted. I could not help but think of how Christ was forced to wear a crown of thorns when he was being tormented by the Roman soldiers as He was awaiting His crucifixion.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18, Paul mentions some instructions that enable us to lead a good Christian life and have a good relationship with God as well as our fellow man. Let’s take a look at these verse by verse:
