            In Proverbs 13:20, King Solomon wrote “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” According to Solomon, our choice in friends does play a role in how our future develops.…

            In II Corinithians 6:14, Paul wrote that we are not to be “unequally yoked together with unbelievers…” He further asked what “fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” We are not to allow ourselves to be put in a position where unbelievers would have power over us, and we are not to associate with those who are unrighteous or considered as darkness.

            Those with whom we keep company do influence us. While we are to teach others regarding the Gospel, we need to make sure that we are having a positive effect on them rather than their having a negative influence on us. May we always strive to be those people whom God would have us to be, and may we be aware of how those with whom we associate influence our walk with the Lord.
